Using Genetic Geneology to reconnect Indigenous Families and Communities

The Sixties Scoop Network are thrilled to announce a partnership with Genetic Detectives to help reconnect 60’s Scoop survivors to their biological family members and communities. Using DNA, we plan to establish a database of DNA test kits from members of Indigenous communities across North America.

In order to connect survivors with their biological family and community, they would compare other submitted DNA with others from the same community nd create family trees based on results. Survivors would work 1 on 1 with Genetic Detectives to understand and intepret their results.

THIS PROCESS IS NOT intended to confirm or refute Indigenous identity.

The goal is simply to connect survivors with biological relatives using proven genetic genelogical resrarch techniques. This process is based on consent and particiption, The Sixties Scoop Network nor Genetic Detectives cannot gaurantee that each party may or may not want to participate in reconnecting and encorage emotional, spiritual support throughout this process. The SSN can offer support and resources if you choose to participate.
